Horses Don’t Lie: How to Choose an Ethical Horse Experience

Today, being a “rescue” or talking about natural horsemanship has become trendy. But properly caring for a horse is not a slogan. It’s a life choice: love, knowledge, passion, years of study and sacrifice.
More and more often, behind catchy phrases and polished photos, there are improvised setups, lacking skills and consistency.
Horses that are malnourished, overworked, left in paddocks without shelter, without the proper foundation to face the activity calmly and safely: they may seem calm, but they’re just tired or weakened.
Horses sold and resold like objects.
And meanwhile, “natural experiences” are sold to well-meaning tourists, as some people build their image on carefully staged appearances, knowing not everyone can see what happens when no one is watching.
Operations that replicate the image of others while lacking skill and consistency, putting both horses and people at risk. Where fun is prioritized over safety, over the wellbeing of the horses, because for money and customer satisfaction, it’s easier to say yes to everything and everyone when you don’t care about the risks involved, or the horses’ welfare.
Sadly, these shortcuts discredit a whole world, and make people forget that ethical horsemanship has always existed. On the other side, there are those who sacrifice everything, every day, to care with conscience and respect for these amazing four-legged friends.
If you truly love horses and want an ethical experience, look closer.Ask questions.Choose with awareness.
Horses don’t lie.Some people do.
