Booking terms and rider safety

The practical terms are grouped below so you can review what matters without reading one long policy page. Ask on WhatsApp if any condition is unclear before paying a deposit.

Reservations and ethical commitment

Every confirmed booking reserves dedicated horses, guides and preparation time. Because Caribe Horse works with small or private groups, last-minute changes and no-shows directly affect the operation and the horses' workload planning.

Each experience is organized around rider weight, riding experience, the condition and character of each horse, guide availability and the conditions of the route. Last-minute requests cannot always be accommodated safely.

Some South Caribbean trails are narrow, beach space may be limited, and conditions can change with other people, animals and natural obstacles. Group composition and route planning must account for those local conditions.

Every booking contributes directly to the care, nutrition, veterinary attention and long-term welfare of the rescued horses, including horses that are retired from tours.

Direct and authorized bookings

Reservations made directly through Caribe Horse are covered by the applicable insurance, legal permits and municipal authorizations of the operation. Guides and collaborators work under Caribe Horse's coordination, and participating horses remain under its care and veterinary oversight.

Arrangements made directly with guides, collaborators or third parties without Caribe Horse's prior knowledge and authorization are not official reservations and may fall outside that coverage. Contact management if someone uses the Caribe Horse name, horses, facilities or equipment without authorization.

Guides, equipment and local responsibility

Caribe Horse uses high-quality riding equipment and works with qualified and certified guides, including bilingual local guides. They also help guests understand the nature, culture, traditions and daily life of the South Caribbean.

The project works with local horse owners and professionals to encourage responsible horse care and support the surrounding community.

Cancellation policy

A confirmed reservation commits horses, guides, time and resources and may prevent another booking for the same date. The policy applies to individual and group reservations, including a reduction in participant numbers after confirmation.

Deposit

A deposit confirms every reservation. How much depends on how far ahead you book:

  • 60 days or more before the tour: 20% deposit.
  • 59 to 15 days before the tour: 50% deposit.
  • 14 to 7 days before the tour: 80% deposit.
  • Less than 7 days before the tour: 100% deposit.

Weather and sea conditions

Tours operate rain or shine in a tropical rainforest environment. Weather alone is not grounds for cancellation or refund. Caribe Horse may suspend or reschedule an experience when weather or environmental conditions create a genuine safety concern for guests or horses.

Swimming with the horses depends on sea, weather and underwater visibility conditions, which can change during the experience. If swimming cannot be carried out safely, the experience continues on a Beach & Jungle route. Confirm the current booking terms for that contingency before reserving.

Participation, pace and conduct
  • Age and approximate weight must be provided accurately when booking. A guest who arrives without meeting the applicable limit cannot participate and the reservation is treated as a no-show under the cancellation policy.
  • Guests must be physically able to ride safely. Mobility limitations, health conditions and special requirements must be discussed in advance. Participation may be refused or ended if a physical condition creates a safety risk, without a refund.
  • Two people may not ride the same horse. Each child rides independently with their own saddle; a guide may lead the horse when needed.
  • A declared riding level does not guarantee a particular pace. The guide decides whether trotting or galloping is safe based on demonstrated ability, route conditions and the needs of the group and horses.
  • Unsafe, aggressive or disrespectful behavior, including participation under the influence of alcohol or other substances, may lead to refusal or termination of the ride without a refund.
  • Confirming a reservation acknowledges the applicable cancellation policy and participation requirements.
