Full Day Horseback Riding + Jaguar Rescue Tour

Our Full-Day Horseback Riding + Jaguar Rescue Tour combines two of Costa Rica’s most unforgettable wildlife experiences in a single day: a guided visit to the renowned Jaguar Rescue Center and an incredible horseback riding adventure along the breathtaking Southern Caribbean coastline with our rescued horses.

This experience is perfect for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, couples, families and anyone wanting to discover the very best of Puerto Viejo in one unforgettable day while supporting two local conservation and rescue projects.

Your day begins at the Jaguar Rescue Center in Playa Chiquita, where you’ll join the Center’s regular guided tour. We kindly ask guests to arrive around 9:10–9:15 AM so there is plenty of time for check-in before the tour starts.

During the visit you’ll discover Costa Rica’s fascinating wildlife and learn about the Center’s rescue, rehabilitation and conservation work. Depending on the day’s schedule, guided tours are generally available in English and Spanish, while additional languages may occasionally be available directly through the Jaguar Rescue Center.

After the rescue center visit, we’ll meet you outside the entrance. Depending on trail conditions, we’ll either be waiting with the horses or transfer you a few minutes to our stables in Cocles, where your horseback riding adventure begins.

Ride along spectacular Caribbean beaches, lush rainforest trails and hidden coastal paths while experiencing the authentic beauty of Playa Cocles, Punta Cocles, Playa Escondida, Playa Chiquita and Punta Uva. Depending on your riding experience, available time, weather and trail conditions, the route may also continue toward Playa Arrecife before returning.

Around midday we’ll stop for a relaxing lunch at one of our favorite beachfront locations. The tour includes a complete lunch together with one soft drink, water or local beer. Premium dishes and lobster are not included.

Unlike fixed horseback riding excursions, our itinerary remains flexible. The distance covered and the final route are always adapted to your riding experience, weather conditions, beach conditions and the pace that best suits you, ensuring the safest and most enjoyable experience for both our guests and our rescued horses.

Every ride directly supports our horse rescue project. All of our horses have been rescued from neglect or abuse and are now cared for with patience, respect and love, allowing you to enjoy an authentic ethical horseback riding experience while supporting responsible tourism and animal welfare.

Whether you’re celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, birthday or simply looking for one of the most memorable adventures in Costa Rica, this unique combination of wildlife conservation, breathtaking scenery and horseback riding creates memories that will last a lifetime.

The experience usually finishes between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, depending on the group’s riding experience, the selected route and the day’s conditions.
